Out & About Marketing is a set of articles you can read without signing up, logging in or filling out a form. Because of that, very little information about you ever reaches us. This page sets out what does, why it is needed and the choices you have.
Who looks after your data
The site is run by the small group of writers introduced on the small team behind it. For any privacy question or request, email letters@outandaboutmarketing.com.
Plain files, no watchers
Every page here is a plain file delivered as it is. There is no analytics service counting your visits, no advertising network, no social media widgets that phone home and no tracking pixels. We do not build visitor profiles, and we do not sell or swap information with anyone.
Hosting logs
Like any website, ours sits on servers run by a hosting provider. When your browser asks for a page, those servers may briefly record technical details such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser and device type. These logs exist to deliver pages, spot faults and defend against abuse. They are held by the provider for a limited period, we do not combine them with other data, and we do not use them to identify readers.
The legal basis for this processing is a legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
Your cookie choice
The site sets no cookies. When you answer the small banner at the bottom of the screen, your browser keeps that answer in its local storage so the banner does not reappear on every page. The stored value stays on your device and is not sent to us. Wiping this site's stored data in your browser deletes the value. The full explanation sits on cookies, briefly.
When you email us
An email to us brings along your address, any name you sign with and the contents of your message. We use it only to read and answer your message, and we keep the conversation only as long as it is useful, for example while a correction is being made. Writing to us never puts your address on a newsletter list. Please leave out sensitive details such as account numbers or health information; we never need them.
The legal basis here is your own request and our legitimate interest in replying to it.
Your rights
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, the GDPR or its equivalent gives you rights over your personal data. You can ask:
- to see the information we hold about you;
- to have it corrected if it is wrong;
- to have it erased;
- to restrict or object to how it is used;
- to receive it in a portable format where that applies.
Write to the address above and we will answer within one month. If our answer leaves you unhappy, the data protection regulator where you live or work can take up a complaint.
Children
The site is written for adults running businesses. Any data from children reaching us would be by accident, and we would delete it once noticed.
Changes to this page
If the way the site works changes, for instance if a new feature ever needs data, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change with it.
